2017 National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year winners revealed

Professional and amateur photographers from more than 30 countries took part and entered more than 15,000 photos.

A photo called “The Power of Nature” took the grand prize. The photographer captured the moment lightning struck an erupting volcano in Mexico.
A photographer in Hungary won the “Cities” category for a picture inside a German library. Its windows provide the bright, natural lighting.And a photo of a ceremonial Turkish dance took the top spot in the “People” category.

Other noteworthy entries include a shot of marble caves in Chile and a surfer caught inside a wave in Fiji.

The grand prize winner receives a 10-day trip for two to the Galápagos Archipelago with National Geographic Expeditions.
